The lifestyle today has become pretty hectic and taking care of your health has become a bigger challenge. With a lot of health complications on the rise, the need for natural remedies is gaining momentum. You don’t have to travel all the way to the pharmacy for purchasing medicines for your health.
As we know that consuming the right foods can boost our intake of minerals, vitamins, and nutrients. Though it’s important to keep in mind that serious conditions need the attention of a doctor, it might not hurt to reach for one of these items the next time you have a minor health problem.
The best medicines (the natural ones) for curing any disease are right there in your kitchen. Lets discuss a few and their benefits:
14. Flax Seeds
Flaxseed is commonly used to improve digestive health or relieve constipation. It also helps to lower down cholesterol levels, which may help reduce the risk of heart disease. Add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed to your hot or cold breakfast cereal.
13. Fenugreek
It lowers blood sugar levels, boosting testosterone, and increases milk production in breastfeeding mothers. It helps in reducing cholesterol levels, lowering inflammation, and help with appetite.
12. Fennel
Fennel’s dried ripe seeds and oil are used to make medicineused by mouth for various digestive problems including heartburn, intestinal gas, bloating, loss of appetite, and colic in infants among others. It’s a quick answer to abdominal flatulence and heaviness after food.
11. Echinacea – allergies
Echinacea improve immunity, blood sugar, anxiety, inflammation and skin health. It may even have anti-cancer properties. You can use natural form or also take tablets available from naturopathic/ homeopathic stores.
10. Dark Leafy Veggies
Spinach, kale, mustard greens and other dark leafy vegetables aren’t just extremely nutritious and low in calories, but are also packed with antioxidants, beta carotene and immunity-boosting vitamin C.
9. Curry leaves
Raw and tender curry leaves can also be eaten on an empty stomach. Used for treating an upset stomach. Grind dried curry leaves and add it to buttermilk. Drink it on any empty stomach for dealing with conditions such diarrhea, constipation and dysentery. An absolute delight when taken with buttermilk.
8. Cumin
Helps in indigestion. It is Rich Source of Iron. It helps in indigestion, improves Blood Cholesterol. Also Promote Weight Loss and Fat Reduction. You can drink cumin seed water to reduce fat. Boil few cumin seeds in 1 litre of water and use it in place of regular water.
7. Coriander
Helps in different Skin Diseases, reduces skin inflammation, and regulates Diabetes. Helps in vision, makes bone strength. Cures ulcers of mouth, very effective for Conjunctivitis. Used in Indian cooking so often and one of my favorites.
6. Clove
It is used for toothache; controls pain during dental workand other dental-related issues. Used in the form of oils. To make medicines dried flower buds, leaves, and stems are used.
5. Citrus Fruits
This is something all of you know, im just repeating as a reminder. This is your best bet for adding vitamin c for your immunity. And most easy to take while you are on the go. Take juice every morning, or just peel the orange and have it with your breakfast. Add some lemon slices to your water bottle.
4. Cinnamon
It is full of antioxidant. Helps in lowering blood sugar level. It improves sensitivity to the Hormone Insulin. It cuts the risk of Heart Disease. It fights bacterial and fungal infections. It is a magic remedy for high cholesterol. Taking a decoction of Cinnamon in morning for 45 days helps immensely for reducing cholesterol.
3. Black Pepper
Helps in treating many things like depression, diarrhea, gas, headache, sex drive, menstrual pain, stuffy nose, sinus infection, dizziness, discolored skin (vitiligo), weight loss, cancer, a bacterial infections that causes diarrhea (cholera), colic, arthritis, asthma, upset stomach and bronchitis, the list is huge. One way to use it add a pinch of grinded black pepper to your salad/ use as an additional spice in your day to day cooking. I would like to share one of the method my father used to practice. At the end of winters he would give all kids – candies (pea sized) made out of pepper, cinnamon and honey – 2 candies everyday morning for 10 days as an immunity booster. We used to hate it but trust me all the kids who would take this would barely suffer from allergies the coming change of season.
2. Bay leaves
Its enzyme breaks down proteins which help in digesting food faster. Settles indigestion. It also helps in Migraine. Use in your day to day cooking and it will do the trick.

With boosting your immunity, it improves metabolic activities too. It helps in treating sore throats, promoting hair growth, slows down aging process. It also helps in fighting heart diseases. It should be consumedearly morning.
15. Garlic
This flavour-enhancer has sulphur-containing compounds like allicin, which acts as an immunity booster. It’s well known to help in bringing down the blood pressure. So taking two raw florets of garlic empty stomach in morning when blood pressure rises during winters can be a great savior.
16. Ginger
One of the chief winter spice which is talked about and used in Indian kitchen I almost everything we cook. But add the raw form to get the most benefit or add to our daily tea, warm soups and even mocktails and cocktails. Ginger is also a quick fix for a sore throat and it also fights inflammation in the body, as well as boosts immunity.
17. Holy basil
It helps in protecting against infection, lower your blood sugar, lower your cholesterol, ease joint pain, and protect your stomach. You should have2 leaves in morning empty stomach, do not chew, just eat them/ add to your tea or mocktails/cocktails.
18. Lemongrass
Helps in preventing the growth of some bacteria and yeast. It contains substances that are thought to relieve pain and swelling, reduce fever, improve levels of sugar and cholesterol in the blood, stimulate the uterus and menstrual flow, and have antioxidant properties. It should be added to tea or your water bottle.
19. Mint
Helps in upset stomach, alleviating indigestion, gas, and cramps. It relieves stress and anxiety, and gives peaceful sleep. My favorite way to add 2 leaves in my lemonade every morning as my energy drink.
20. Mushrooms
This is used for relieving stress, cardio & brain health and provides energy. Plays an important role in inflammation. High source of vit B12
21. Mustard
Seed and oil are used to make medicine. Black mustard oil is used for the common cold, painful joints and muscles (rheumatism), and arthritis. Black mustard seed is used for causing vomiting, relieving water retention (edema) by increasing urine production, and increasing appetite
22. Oregano
This helps in treating menstrual cramps, rheumatoid arthritis, urinary tract disorders including urinary tract infections (UTIs), headaches, and heart conditions. The oil of oregano is taken by mouth for intestinal parasites, allergies, sinus pain, arthritis, cold and flu, swine flu, earaches, and fatigue.
23. Primrose oil- sleep, nervous
Primrose oil contains an omega-6 essential fatty acid that is necessary for good health. The oil pressed from its seeds, aka evening primrose oil (EPO for short), … help you feel less stressed, get better sleep, and clear up your skin.
24. Rosemary
Stimulates Hair Growth helps in pain relief, Repels Certain Bugs. May Increase Circulation, May Reduce Joint Inflammation.
25. Saffron
The stigmas are used to make medicine. This helps in asthma, cough, whooping cough (pertussis), and to loosen phlegm (as an expectorant).
26. Sage
The leaf is used to make medicine. This is used for digestive problems, including loss of appetite, gas (flatulence), stomach pain (gastritis), diarrhea, bloating, and heartburn. It is also used for reducing overproduction of perspiration and saliva; and for depression, memory loss, and Alzheimer’s disease.
27. Thyme
Some people apply thyme directly to the skin for hoarseness (laryngitis), swollen tonsils (tonsillitis), sore mouth, and bad breath. Thyme oil is used as a germ-killer in mouthwashes and liniments. It is also applied to the scalp to treat baldness and to the ears to fight bacterial and fungal infections.
28. Turmeric
Most talked herb of the town. Get raw organic turmeric for best results. Make a drink of organic turmeric and take once a day. A great remedy for inflammations,injuries and recovery from any trauma.
